Buongiorno, come ricorderete, l'ateneo non ha rinnovato il contratto annuale con google e di conseguenza a partire da marzo verranno implementate le quote di utilizzo. Riceveremo a proposito un messaggio da parte dell'ateneo. Può essere utile sapere che sebbene non siano ancora state formalmente decise, le nuove quote potrebbero essere di questo ordine di grandezza: 60G per il personale strutturato, 15G per gli studenti. Dear all, Here is the announcement of the next MAP seminar. ⟶ Thursday 19 December, at 11:30 in Aula Riunioni. ⟶ Speaker: *Eliseo Luongo* (Universität Bielefeld) ⟶ Title: *Mean-Field Magnetohydrodynamics Models as Scaling Limits of Stochastic Induction Equations* ⟶ Abstract: We discuss some recent results on the asymptotic properties of a stochastic model for the induction equations of the magnetic field. These allow us to rigorously justify the mean-field equations introduced by Krause and Rädler and to find a dynamo effect in case of turbulence developed in a preferential direction. Time permitting, we will also discuss this problem from a Lagrangian view-point analyzing the properties of some Vlasov type equations associated with the evolution of the magnetic field. The talk is based on joint works with Federico Butori, Franco Flandoli and Yassine Tahraoui. Dear all, Here is the announcement of the next MAP seminar. ⟶ Thursday 12 December, at 11:30 in Aula Riunioni and online on Google Meet: https://meet.google.com/vtt-bhkm-tzc. ⟶ *Speaker**:* *Chiara Bernardini* (Università di Trento) ⟶ *Title**:* *Serrin-type results for ring-shaped domains in Rn* ⟶ *Abstract**:* We deal with the problem of characterizing rotationally symmetric solutions to [image: \Delta u = n \text{ in } \Omega] [image: u = 0 \text{ in } \partial\Omega] when considering ring-shaped domains in the n-dimensional Euclidean space [image: \mathbb{R}^n] (n ≥3). Taking advantage of a suitable conformal reformulation of the problem, we obtain some gradient estimates that will be fundamental to obtaining our main comparison result. In particular, if we assume that the set of maximum points of the solutions has positive ℋ n−1-measure, we are able to characterize ring-shaped model solutions to the corresponding partially overdetermined problem. Our analysis also provides sufficient conditions for solutions to the problem to be rotationally symmetric. This talk is based on a joint work with V.Agostiniani, S.Borghini and L.Mazzieri. Dear all, Here is the announcement of the next MAP seminar. ⟶ Thursday 5 December, at 11:30 in Aula Seminari and online on Google Meet: https://meet.google.com/vtt-bhkm-tzc. ⟶ *Speaker**:* *Antonia Diana* (Sapienza Università di Roma) ⟶ *Title**:* *Length–penalized elastic flow of curves with partial free boundary* ⟶ *Abstract**:* Geometric gradient flows for elastic energies play an important role in mathematics and in many applications. In this talk we consider a curve with boundary points free to move on a line in ℝ2, which evolves by the L2-gradient flow of the *elastic energy*, that is a linear combination of the Willmore and the length functional. For such planar evolution problem we study the short and long–time existence. Once we establish the well–posedness in the case of “*Navier*” boundary conditions, employing the Solonnikov theory for linear parabolic systems in Hölder space, we show that there exists a unique flow in a maximal time interval [0,T) and it is unique in a purely geometric sense. Finally, using energy methods we prove that maximal time is actually T=∞.
