It is our pleasure to announce the 20th edition of
Géométrie Algébrique en Liberté (GAeL)
June 18-22, 2012 - Grenoble, France
GAeL is a conference organised by and for researchers in Algebraic Geometry at the beginning of their scientific career. The conference gives PhD students and post-docs the opportunity to lecture, often for the first time, in front of an international audience. In addition, selected international experts deliver mini-courses on topics at the cutting-edge of important new developments in Algebraic Geometry.
Confirmed senior speakers are:
* Samuel Grushevsky (Stony Brook University) --- Curves, abelian varieties, and the Schottky problem
* Klaus Hulek (Leibniz Universität Hannover) --- Moduli of K3 surfaces and irreducible symplectic manifolds
* Bertrand Toën (Université de Montpellier 2) --- Introduction to derived algebraic geometry
Scientific committee: Frances Kirwan (Oxford), Yuri Manin (Bonn), Frans Oort (Utrecht), Sam Payne (Yale).
Local costs (accomodation, meals, ...) will be paid by the organisation. Without any promise, you can apply for the reimbursements of your travel costs when you are not supported by your university.
GAeL XX is made possible by the generous support of:
* Algebraic geometry research group Grenoble (to be confirmed) * Foundation Compositio Mathematica (to be confirmed) * Institut Fourier Grenoble (to be confirmed) * Institut Henri Poincaré (to be confirmed) * US National Science Foundation (to be confirmed)
More information on the conference is available on the website:
The deadline for the application is 1st March 2012.
With kinds regards,
