We invite applications for a postdoctoral research position, funded by the European Research Council, to work with Professor Andras Juhasz, at the Mathematical Institute, University of Oxford. This is a 36 month fixed-term position and is available from 1 September 2016 (or as soon as possible thereafter).
The successful candidate will work on research projects related to the grant “Low-dimensional topology in Oxford,” in particular, apply Heegaard Floer homology or similar invariants to smooth 4-manifold topology and knot concordance, but there is scope for carrying out an independent research agenda. There is also a requirement to teach up to four sets of undergraduate or graduate classes per year, determined by the demand for classes in specific areas.
Applicants should have a PhD awarded or submitted (at the time of taking up the position) in mathematics or a related discipline, and be able to demonstrate a strong background in gauge-theoretic techniques in low-dimensional topology, preferably Heegaard Floer homology, and a research focus on 4-dimensional applications. A good publication record judged by the stage of his/her career, and the ability to work together with others as part of a research team are also essential.
Please direct informal enquiries to the Administrative Assistant (email: vacancies@maths.ox.ac.uk), quoting vacancy reference 122188.

You will be required to upload a letter setting out how you meet the selection criteria, a curriculum vitae including full list of publications, a statement of research interests and the contact details of three referees as part of your online application. (NOTE: Applicants are responsible for contacting their referees and making sure that their letters are received by the closing date).
