Speaker: Michele Gorini
Title: Convex integration and non-unique solutions in fluid dynamics
Abstract: Convex integration is a powerful technique often used to prove existence and non-uniqueness of solutions to PDE systems. In this talk, after introducing the Euler and Navier-Stokes systems of fluid dynamics and the technique itself, we discuss recent results about the fractional Navier-Stokes equations obtained by convex integration.

Title: Asymptotic expansions with optimal convergent rates for the convection-diffusion equation
Speaker: Ryunosuke Kusaba
Abstract: We consider the large-time asymptotic behavior of global solutions to the convection-diffusion equation. We improve the convergent rate of the remainder for the second order asymptotic expansion established by Zuazua (1993). We also prove the optimality and non-optimality of the convergent rate by utilizing the self-similar structure of the asymptotic profile.

Title: New results for the Cahn-Hilliard equation with non-degenerate mobility
Abstract: The Cahn-Hilliard equation is a well-known macroscopic model for phase separation phenomena, with significant applications across engineering and biology. While considerable progress has been made over the past few decades in understanding the well-posedness and long-term behavior of the solutions to the Cahn-Hilliard equation in the constant-mobility case, the analysis in the case of concentration-dependent mobility remains relatively unexplored. In this talk, I will present some recent results on the Cahn-Hilliard equation with non-degenerate mobility and logarithmic potential in two dimensions. These results improve the state of the art dating back to the work by Barrett and Blowey in 1999. This is a joint work with Monica Conti (Politecnico di Milano), Stefania Gatti and Pietro Galimberti (Università di Modena e Reggio Emilia).

Title: Limiting behavior of minimizing $p$-harmonic maps in 3d as $p$ goes to $2$ with finite fundamental group.
Abstract: The presentation will focus on some new results concerning the limiting behavior of minimizing $p$-harmonic maps from a bounded Lipschitz domain $\Omega \subset \mathbb{R}^{3}$ to a compact connected Riemannian manifold without boundary and with finite fundamental group as $p \nearrow 2$. We prove that there exists a closed set $S_{*}$ of finite length such that minimizing $p$-harmonic maps converge to a locally minimizing harmonic map in $\Omega \setminus S_{*}$. We prove that locally inside $\Omega$ the singular set $S_{*}$ is a finite union of straight line segments, and it minimizes the mass in the appropriate class of admissible chains. Furthermore, we establish local and global estimates for the limiting singular harmonic map. Under additional assumptions, we prove that globally in $\overline{\Omega}$ the set $S_{*}$ is a finite union of straight line segments, and it minimizes the mass in the appropriate class of admissible chains, which is defined by a given boundary datum and $\Omega$. In this talk, I will try to give an overview of these results. This is a joint work with Jean Van Schaftingen and Benoît Van Vaerenbergh.

Title: A stability result for the first Robin-Neumann eigenvalue with negative boundary parameter: a double perturbation approach
Abstract:
Let $\Omega=\Omega_0\setminus\overline{\Theta}\subset\R^n$ ($n\ge 2$) such that $\Omega_0$ is open and convex and $\Theta$ is a finite union of open sets homeomorphic to balls. We consider the eigenvalue problem for the Laplace operator associated to $\Omega$, with Robin boundary condition with parameter $\beta<0$ on $\partial \Omega_0$ and Neumann boundary condition on $\partial \Theta$. In 2020, G. Paoli, G. Piscitelli and L. Trani proved that the spherical shell is the only maximizer for the first Robin-Neumann eigenvalue in the class of domains $\Omega$ with fixed volume and outer perimeter.
In this seminar we present the quantitative version of the afore-mentioned isoperimetric inequality and recall some previous stability results involving the Robin condition with negative boundary parameter. The main novelty when dealing with sets of the type $\Omega=\Omega_0\setminus \overline{\Theta}$ consists in the introduction of a new type of hybrid asymmetry, that takes into account the different boundary conditions on $\partial\Omega_0$ and $\partial \Theta$. Up to our knowledge, in this context, this is the first stability result in which \emph{both} the outer and the inner boundary are perturbed.
The talk is based on some results obtained in collaboration with D.A. La Manna (Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II), G. Paoli (Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II) and G. Piscitelli (Università degli Studi di Napoli Parthenope).
