-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The European Science Foundation (ESF) is offering, in 2005, a total of about 50 awards for Exploratory Workshops across all scientific domains to allow leading European scientists to meet to explore novel ideas at the European level with the aim of "spearheading" new areas of research. The aim of an ESF Exploratory workshop is to:
a.. target and explore either or both: - a challenging scientific topic, preferably an emerging or innovative field of research - a challenging science-driven issue of research infrastructure (RI) that would benefit from a collaborative European approach b.. foster transnational and interdisciplinary links c.. develop potential collaborative research projects Applications must demonstrate the potential importance of European collaboration in the chosen field (added value for European science).
Exploratory workshop awards will normally be for around 20-25 participants and up to a maximum value of 15 000 Euros. Awards are for workshops to be held in the calendar year 2005 (1 January-31 December).
Deadline for receipt of proposals: 1 May 2004 Full details at http://www.esf.org/workshops
