Applied & Computational Algebraic Topology Advanced School Bologna 2012 February 3-4, 2012 - Bologna, Italy http://acat2012.dm.unibo.it ------------------------------------------------------------------- The Bologna ACAT Advanced School focuses on the area of Computational Topology applied to Computer Image and Vision. It is mainly aimed at PhD students and young researchers in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, and Computer Science interested in Computational Topology and Computer Vision and the interaction between these areas. In the Bologna ACAT Advanced School, experts in the fields of - Computational Homology - Persistent Homology - Discrete Morse Theory - Computer Vision will give introductory talks on the respective topics in which they are specialists. The Bologna ACAT Advanced School will be followed by the 4th International Workshop on Computational Topology in Image Context (CTIC2012), held in Bertinoro (Italy), February 6-8, 2012. In the CTIC2012 Workshop, there will be contributed talks on the recent advancements in the fields involving a geometric-topological approach to imaging science. PhD Students and young researchers are strongly encouraged to partecipate in both the events. * INVITED LECTURES * * Computational Homology: Marian Mrozek (Jagiellonian Univ., Kraków) * Computer Vision: Alessandro Bevilacqua (Univ. Bologna) * Discrete Morse Theory: Neža Mramor Kosta (Univ. Ljubljana) * Persistent Topology: Herbert Edelsbrunner (Institute of Science and Technology of Austria) * SCHOOL LOCATION * The School will be held in Bologna, Department of Mathematics, University of Bologna. * ACCOMODATION * The students’ accommodation is not included in the registration. Students are therefore required to book their room autonomously. Suggested hotels can be found in http://acat2012.dm.unibo.it/venue * REGISTRATION * Registration to the School is free of charge.
