“Evolution of Cooperation”

Darwinian evolution is based on competition and survival of the fittest.

It seems that this setting could not account for the existence of altruistic behavior.

Yet many animals, most notably humans, engage in cooperative interactions.

I will discuss various theories that can explain the evolution of cooperation, including kin selection, group selection and reciprocity.
