Combined effects in nonlinear singular elliptic problems

We discuss several recent results related to the qualitative analysis of solutions to some classes of nonlinear elliptic problems.
Some of the main topics include:
(i) a conjecture of H. Brezis on blow-up boundary solutions for the logistic equation;
(ii) singular solutions and the Keller-Osserman condition in the case of a non-monotone nonlinearity;
(iii) perturbations of boundary value problems with singular nonlinearity.
