Buongiorno,

Titolo: Fractional derivatives and models: some numerical aspects

Abstract: Fractional derivatives are a well-established mathematical
tool that has received much attention in recent decades due to their
non-local behavior, proven to be useful in modeling anomalous diffusion
present in various real-world phenomena. Examples include the generation
and spread of electrical signals across biological excitable tissues,
interactions between particles and fields within a plasma, and network
dynamics in human environments. The improvement in describing these
phenomena, however, results in a more challenging numerical treatment,
requiring specialized strategies, e.g., in terms of discretization
methods or numerical solvers. The aim of this talk is to give a little
taste of the topic with a focus on the numerical linear algebra
difficulties that it poses.

Grazie per l'attenzione, cordiali saluti. Luisa Beghin
