Dear All,
we have two talks tomorrow. Remember that we start 14:00 UTC which is
16:00 CET!
14:00-15:00 UTC Pascal MaillardBranching particle systems and front
propagation
I will review some recent results (some in progress) on extremes of
branching particle systems as models of front propagation. The main
theme will be asymptotic results about speed and fluctuations. The talk
will be based on joint work with various subsets of the following people
: Gaël Raoul, Michel Pain, Sarah Penington, Jason Schweinsberg, Julie
Tourniaire.
15:00 - 16:00 UTC Sarah Penington
Brownian bees in the infinite swarm limit
Consider a system of N particles moving according to Brownian motions
and branching at rate one. Each time a particle branches, the particle
in the system furthest from the origin is killed. I will discuss the
large N and large time behaviour of the system, which is related to
solutions of a novel non-linear free boundary partial differential
equation. Based on joint work with Julien Berestycki, Éric Brunet and
Jim Nolen.
