The IAVCEI Commission on Statistics in Volcanology (COSIV) is actively looking to welcome new members, especially Early Career Researchers (ECRs), to join our international group. 

Established in 2007, our commission focuses on fostering the statistical analysis of volcanological data. We pride ourselves on our highly multidisciplinary nature, constantly working to bridge the gap between Earth Sciences, Mathematics, Statistics, and Engineering. The COSIV was recently presented in the IAVCEI Newsletter n.1 2026: https://www.iavceivolcano.org/newsletter-1-2026/.

By joining COSIV, you will have the opportunity to engage with our network and participate in our upcoming events, which currently include:

- A proposed collaborative scientific session at the upcoming IUGG 2027 in Incheon, South Korea, titled "Probability Analysis of Volcanic Hazards and Implications for Risk Assessment".

- A newly planned COSIV scientific workshop currently in the early stages of organization, which is slated to be based in Italy.
