How are you doing? I have another opening for a PhD position, and I would be very grateful if you could circulate the following announcement. The research group Geometry, Physics, and Probability (GPP) of the Institute for Research in Mathematics and Physics (IRMP) of UCLouvain is offering a PhD research fellowship in the framework of the ERC Research Project “Asymptotic analysis of repulsive point processes and integrable equations”. The research interests of candidates include preferably one or several of the following topics: complex analysis, special functions, partial differential equations, and probability. The candidate will be working on topics such as random matrix theory, integrable differential equations, random tilings, determinantal point processes, Riemann-Hilbert problems, orthogonal polynomials, depending on the candidate’s interests. There are no teaching duties associated with this position. The duration of the fellowship is 2+2 years. Salary scales lie around 2450 € net monthly. Furthermore, working conditions are flexible and travel funds will be made available to the successful candidate. Applicants should submit their application file to christophe.charlier@uclouvain.be<mailto:christophe.charlier@uclouvain.be> in the form of a single pdf-file, containing: - a detailed curriculum vitae, including a list of courses and the grades received; - a short motivation letter of at most one page; - the names and e-mail addresses of at least two academic referees. The review of the applications will begin on June 19, 2026. Applications received after this date will be considered until the position is filled. The starting date is flexible but expected between September 2026 and October 2026.
