Metastable transitions in the case of zero field occur along a large saddle plateau, which can be divided into bulk and edge parts. Transitions on the bulk part are one-dimensional and thus easy to analyze, whereas transitions on the edge part are much more complex. In two dimension, I will characterize them in a very precise manner. On the other hand in three dimension, it is impossible to find such a precise characterization and thus I present an alternative abstract method to analyze the metastable behavior. This talk is based on a joint work with Insuk Seo at Seoul National University.
