The Institute of Mathematics at the University of Cologne (UoC) is pleased to announce a PhD-Student (m/f) position to be filled as soon as possible. The position is a 50% position; the salary is based on the German TVL-13 scale if terms and conditions under collective bargaining law are fulfilled. The initial appointment is for three years and can be extended up to five years.
We are looking for a talented and motivated Ph.D. candidate to carry out research in probability theory motivated by problems from statistical physics. The job profile also includes teaching responsibilities in the group of Prof. Alexander Drewitz, such as organizing tutorials/ seminars as well as supervising students. We require an excellent MSc degree in Mathematics (or similar), as well as a profound knowledge of probability theory. A working knowledge of German is either expected or otherwise to be acquired at the beginning of the appointment.
