We discuss several recent results related to the qualitative analysis of solutions to some classes of nonlinear elliptic problems. Some of the main topics include: (i) a conjecture of H. Brezis on blow-up boundary solutions for the logistic equation; (ii) singular solutions and the Keller-Osserman condition in the case of a non-monotone nonlinearity; (iii) perturbations of boundary value problems with singular nonlinearity.
