Aim of the workshop is to present the state-of-the-art on non-Kähler special metrics, which has been developing much interest and importance in the recent years, as well as to point out which open problems could be particuarly worth of further developement. The 3-days workshop consists of a 3-hours mini-course by Ben Weinkove on "The complex Monge-Ampère equation on non-Kähler manifolds", by seven 1-hour talks by distinguished international researchers, and by two 30-minutes talks by young PhD students, on Hermitian geometry of complex non-Kähler manifolds. Cari tutti, Giovedì 14 Aprile alle 14:30 presso la Sala Seminari del DM di Pisa si terrà il Seminario dei Baby-Geometri di Andrea Tamburelli (Université du Luxembourg ) dal titolo: "Introduzione alla geometria anti-de-Sitter e applicazioni alla teoria di Teichmüller" di cui riporto l'abstract: "Dopo una rapida introduzione alla geometria Lorentziana, ci concentreremo sullo studio delle varietà anti-de-Sitter, che, in qualche modo, sono l'analogo Lorentziano delle varietà iperboliche. Illustreremo in particolare la topologia e la geometria delle varietà anti-de-Sitter in dimensione 3 e vedremo come queste permettano di ottenere nuove dimostrazioni di risultati classici della teoria di Teichmüller, tra cui il teorema dei terremoti di Thurston." Matematica) Titolo: The skein vector space of the 3-torus Speaker: Alessio Carrega Abstract: Skein theory is an easier alternative approach to representation theory for quantum invariants that is usually more appreciated by topologists. The first notion in skein theory is the one of skein vector space (or skein module). In this talk we introduce skein spaces and we give some examples. Then we focus on the skein space of the 3-torus: we show a set of 9 generators of this skein space and we briefly explain why this set generates the space.

Cari tutti, Martedì 05 Aprile alle 14:30 presso la Sala Seminari del DM di Pisa si terrà il Seminario dei Baby-Geometri di Andrea Di Lorenzo (Scuola Normale Superiore) dal titolo: "Spazio dei torsori di una varietà hyperkähler e curve intere" di cui riporto l'abstract: "Data una varietà hyperkähler (compatta) è possibile associarle una famiglia di deformazioni complesse chiamata spazio dei torsori la cui base è la retta proiettiva. In questo seminario verrà esposto un risultato di F. Campana che dimostra che in ogni spazio dei torsori esiste sempre una fibra della famiglia che contiene una curva intera (i.e. unimmagine olomorfa non costante del piano complesso). Altrimenti detto, ogni varietà hyperkähler compatta ammette una deformazione non iperbolica nel senso di Kobayashi." Tutti gli interessati sono invitati a partecipare. Cari tutti, domani mattina alle ore 11 in aula seminari del dipartimento di matematica si terra' il seguente seminario: Sabine Braun (Karlsruhe Institute of Technology): Title: Simplicial volume and Gromov's main inequality Abstract: Since its introduction in the early 1980’s by Gromov the simplicial volume has been central to the investigation of the relationship between the large scale geometry and the topology of manifolds. The most fundamental theorem in this subject is Gromov’s Main Inequality which bounds the simplicial volume of a manifold M, a purely homological invariant, by its Riemannian volume provided M satisfies a lower Ricci curvature bound. Cari tutti, Martedì 22 Marzo alle 14:30 presso la Sala Seminari del DM di Pisa si terrà il Seminario dei Baby-Geometri di Chinh Lu (Centro di ricerca matematica Ennio De Giorgi ) dal titolo: "Introduction to Kähler-Einstein metrics" di cui riporto l'abstract: "We survey recent results concerning Aubin-Yau equations. We introduce the notion of Kähler-Einstein metrics on a compact Kähler manifolds, reduce the existence problem to solving certain complex Monge-Ampère equations. By following a continuity method, the latter will be then reduced to establishing a priori estimates. We will focus on the uniform and C2 estimates which hold in the case of non-positive curvatures."
