SEMINARIO DI MATEMATICA Venerdì 22 giugno 2018 ore 11:00 *Scuola Normale Superiore* Pisa Aula Mancini *Enrico Priola* *(Università di Torino)* terrà un seminario dal titolo: *“**Poisson stochastic process and basic parabolic estimates**”* *Abstract:* We show how knowing Schauder or Sobolev-space estimates for the one-dimensional heat equation allows one to derive their multidimensional analogs for equations with coefficients depending only on time variable with the same constants as in the case of the one-dimensional heat equation. The method is quite general and is based on using the Poisson stochastic process. It also applies to other types of estimates and to equations involving non-local operators. It looks like no other methods are available at this time and it is a challenging problem to find an analytic approach to prove such results. In the talk I will concentrate on basic Sobolev estimates for the heat equation trying to explain the method. This is a joint work with N. V. Krylov. PhD in Mathematics at Roma Tre University. The Department of Mathematics and Physics of the Roma Tre University has been recently awarded a large research grant, based on a research evaluation that placed it among the top departments in Mathematics and Computer Science in Italy http://www.anvur.it/attachments/article/1205/All6DElenco180Ammessi.pdf This grant will be used to support and expand in several ways the research activities of the Department, among which the Ph.D. program will play a very important role. We will finance more introductory and advanced courses taught by top level visiting scientists, we will organize thematic semesters on highly relevant research topics and we will fund participation of graduate students to international schools and conferences. The Ph.D. program covers many areas of research in Pure and Applied Mathematics, including Algebraic and Differential Geometry, Commutative Algebra, Logic, Nonlinear analisys and dynamical systems, Number Theory, Numerical Analysis, Probability and Mathematical Statistics, Theoretical Computer Science and applications.
