Dear colleagues, I am pleased to share with you the call for applications for the MAPPA program, a DOUBLE-DEGREE MASTER PROGRAM IN MATHEMATICS jointly offered by the UNIVERSITY OF PADOVA and PARIS DAUPHINE UNIVERSITY (Paris Sciences & Lettres). This two-year program offers three specialized study paths: - MATHEMATICAL ANALYSIS - PROBABILITY AND FINANCE - PROBABILITY AND STATISTICAL MECHANICS Admitted students will spend their first year in Padova and their second year in Paris. Upon successful completion of the program, students will be awarded two degrees: Laurea Magistrale in Matematica (from Padova) and Master in Mathematics and Applications (from Paris Dauphine). The master thesis will be conducted in collaboration with two supervisors, one in Padova and one in Paris. Admission to the program, limited to 10 students, will be based on CV, presentation letters, and an interview. Financial support and fellowships are available for admitted students. Buongiorno a tutti, Vorremmo segnalarvi che venerdì prossimo (28 Novembre) alle 14:30 in aula 2BC30 (Torre Archimede, Università di Padova) ci sarà un seminario per il ciclo di seminari in Probabilità e Finanza di: Lucio Galeati (Università dell'Aquila) <https://sites.google.com/view/lucio-galeati-math/home> https://sites.google.com/view/lucio-galeati-math/home Title: Anomalous dissipation and anomalous regularization in the Kraichnan model of turbulence Date: November 28, 2025, at 14:30, 2BC30 Abstract: In the 60s Kraichnan proposed a synthetic model for passive scalar turbulence, consisting of a scalar advected by a random Gaussian velocity field, white in time and -Holder continuous in space. Despite its simplicity, this SPDE displays anomalous dissipation of energy, spontaneous stochasticity and intermittency, which are also expected for more realistic turbulent fluids. At the same time, solutions to the inviscid SPDE are unique and can be recovered by vanishing viscosity and mollification schemes. In this talk I will present some recent further understandings on this model: i) solutions to the transport equation with initial data display anomalous regularisation and almost gain Sobolev regularity , but not better; ii) solutions to the continuity equation starting from Dirac deltas instantaneously gain Lebesgue integrability, due to the diffusive behaviour of Lagrangian particle splitting, and their variance at small times grows like . ******************************************************************************* Summer School @MaLGa - Machine Learning Crash Course 2026 ******************************************************************************* We are pleased to announce the Summer School Machine Learning Crash Course (MLCC) 2026 https://malga.unige.it/education/schools/mlcc2026/. The course is organized by MaLGa - the Machine Learning Genoa Center, as part of the ELLIS Genoa unit activities, and is taught by Nicoletta Noceti, Cesare Molinari and Lorenzo Rosasco. MLCC provides an introduction to fundamental concepts and algorithms of Machine Learning. The course presents the statistical learning theory framework with empirical risk minimization and regularization as guiding principles for algorithm design. Linear and nonlinear models will be discussed, including kernel methods and neural networks. The course also covers optimization aspects, discussing and analyzing gradient descent methods and backpropagation. Further advanced topics will be covered in a half-day workshop. Invited speakers will be announced soon!
