========================================= Conference announcement ========================================= The 5th Italian Meeting on Probability and Mathematical Statistics will be held in Palermo, Italy, from June 8-12, 2026. See: https://probabilitypalermo2026.unipa.it ============= Description ============= Established in 2017, the Italian Meeting on Probability and Mathematical Statistics aims to bring together Italian and international researchers with shared interests in any field of probability and mathematical statistics, promoting the dissemination of recent scientific results and fostering academic exchange. The first meeting was held in Turin in 2017. Since then, the meetings have taken place in Vietri sul Mare (2019), Bologna (2022), and Rome (2024). The 5th edition, promoted by the PRISMA group (https://umi-prisma.polito.it/) of UMI (Italian Mathematical Union), will be held in Palermo from June 8 to 12, 2026. The official website of the event is: https://probabilitypalermo2026.unipa.it/ The conference will take place on the Campus of the University of Palermo, Viale delle Scienze, Palermo, Italy. The plenary speakers who have already confirmed their participation are: Francesca Biagini (LMU, Munich, Germany), Stefano Favaro (University of Turin, Italy), Franco Flandoli (Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa, Italy), and Giuseppe Savaré (Bocconi University, Italy). One more invited speaker will be announced soon. We invite all researchers interested in contributing to the event to submit proposals for a Contributed Session. The participation of young researchers and PhD students working both in Italy and abroad is strongly encouraged. The approach is in-depth and multidisciplinary, with lectures, assignments and discussion of the results. Students may apply for one session at a time, but need to attend the whole session. They may get credits for the courses taken within the Colloquium. Grazie per l'attenzione e cordiali saluti, Enrico Scalas -- AVVISO DI SEMINARIO Il 15 maggio 2024 dalle ore 15, in aula 34 del Dipartimento di Scienze Statistiche (DSS), Sapienza Università di Roma, nell'ambito dei Seminari di Probabilità del DSS, il Prof. Nicos Georgiou, University of Sussex, Regno Unito, terrà un seminario dal titolo -- The tree-TASEP on Galton-Watson trees Abstract: We define a totally asymmetric simple exclusion process on trees, where the particles enter the tree from a reservoir attached to the root. Particles can only jump following edges on the tree and only if they are jumping away from the root, to a non-occupied vertex. We are interested in two different aspects of this particle system. First we want to investigate the current of particles across a given generation at a specific time, when we start from an initially empty initial condition. Second, we would like to obtain some information about the current across a given ray. Both answers depend heavily on our choice of jump rates for the particles and the tree geometry and different regimes of behaviour will be presented during the talk. Our results rely on a crucial estimate of the time it takes for the trajectories of the first N particles to decouple in the tree. This is joint work with N. Gantert (TUM) and D. Kind regards, Antonio Agresti *Max Sauerbrey* (Max Planck Institute, Leipzig) *Title:* Solution theory for the stochastic thin film equation with spatially colored noise *Abstract:* We present recent results on the local in time well-posedness of stochastic thin-film equations driven by Gaussian noise, which is white in time and colored in space, with strictly positive initial data. After introducing the underlying model, we state the local well-posedness and instantaneous regularization result in any space dimension, including corresponding blow-up criteria. Then we comment on the one-dimensional situation in which global in time well-posedness can be obtained under consideration of intermolecular van der Waals forces between the fluid and the substrate. The time-changed Brownian motion is neither Markovian nor Gaussian, and standard procedures known for normal diﬀusions do not generally work. This talk gives an overview of the framework of numerical approximation schemes for the time-changed Brownian motion and its associated stochastic diﬀerential equations, along with the rates of convergence. 8 PhD positions in Berlin-Oxford research training group on Stochastic Analysis

Cari colleghi, The Berlin-Oxford International Research Training Group (IRTG) 2544 “Stochastic Analysis in Interaction” offers 8 PhD positions (75% TVL E 13, ~2200 EUR net salary per month) for 3 years starting October 1st, 2025. The IRTG is a joint research initiative of the stochastic analysis group of FU, HU, TU and WIAS Berlin with its counterpart at the University of Oxford. The advertised positions will be based in Berlin and will offer ample opportunities to interact also with members of the Oxford team, most notably in a 6-months exchange. Embedded in a truly international environment, the IRTG students will get excellent research training in a structured programme focussing on challenges at the mathematical foundations of Stochastic Analysis as well as on challenges arising from its various applications, e.g., in physics, biology, finance or data science. The combined expertise from the Berlin and Oxford groups will provide a significant breadth in depth and fertile ground for our students' ambitious research ideas. Successful candidates will have an MSc degree (or equivalent) in Mathematics (or a closely related field), strong knowledge of stochastic analysis, and feel eager to engage in the exchange of ideas with the teams in both Berlin and Oxford.
