When the transported measure is absolutely continuous with respect to the initial measure, we say that the initial measure is quasi-invariant. * *In the high-dispersion regime, we exploit quasi-invariance to build a (unique) global flow for initial data with negative regularity, in a regime that cannot be replicated by the deterministic (pathwise) theory. * *In the 0-dispersion regime, we discuss the limits of this approach, and exhibit a sharp transition from quasi-invariance to singularity, depending on the regularity of the initial measure. * *This is based on joint works with J. Si segnala il seguente seminario: Lunedì 19 Febbraio 2024, ore 16:00, Sala di Consiglio, Dipartimento di Matematica "Guido Castelnuovo", Sapienza Università di Roma *Speaker: *Giuseppe Cannizzaro (University of Warwick, UK) *Title: *Weak coupling scaling of critical SPDEs *Abstract: *The study of stochastic PDEs has known tremendous advances in recent years and, thanks to Hairer's theory of regularity structures and Gubinelli and Perkowski's paracontrolled approach, (local) existence and uniqueness of solutions of *subcritical* SPDEs is by now well-understood. The goal of this talk is to move beyond the aforementioned theories and present novel tools to derive the scaling limit (in the so-called weak coupling scaling) for some stationary SPDEs at the *critical* dimension. Our techniques are inspired by the resolvent method developed by Landim, Olla, Yau, Varadhan, and many others, in the context of particle systems in the *supercritical* dimension. Best, Michele Salvi Abstract of the course “An introduction to Score-based Generative Models” In simple words, generative modeling consists in learning a map capable of generating new data instances that resemble a given set of observations, starting from a simple prior distribution, most often a standard Gaussian distribution. This course aims at providing a mathematical introduction to generative models and in particular to Score-based Generative Models (SGM). SGMs have gained prominence for their ability to generate realistic data across diverse domains, making them a popular tool for researchers and practitioners in machine learning. Participants will learn about the methodological and theoretical foundations, as well as some practical applications associated with these models. The first two lectures motivate the use of generative models, introduce their formalism and present two simple though relevant examples: energy-based models and Generative Adversarial Networks. In the third and fourth lecture we present score-based diffusion models and explain how they provide an algorithmical framework to the basic idea that sampling from the time-reversal of a diffusion process converts noise into new data instances. We shall do so following two different approaches: a first elementary one that only relies on discrete transition probabilities, and a second one based on stochastic calculus. After this introduction, we derive sharp theoretical guarantees of convergence for score-based diffusion models assembling together ideas coming from stochastic control, functional inequalities and regularity theory for HamiltonJacobi-Bellman equations. The course ends with an overview of some of the most recent and sophisticated algorithms such as flow matching and diffusion Schrödinger bridges (DSB), which bring an (entropic) optimal transport insight into generative modeling.

Previous works considered the case where the graph changes via dynamical percolation, in which the edges of the graph switch between two states, open and closed, and the walker is only allowed to cross open edges. In dynamical percolation, edges change their state independently of one another. In this work, we consider a graph dynamics with unbounded dependences: Glauber dynamics on the random cluster model. We derive tight bounds on the mixing time when the density of open edges is small enough. For the proof, we construct a non-Markovian coupling using a multiscale analysis of the environment. This is based on joint work with Andrea Lelli.

In those games, the representative agent employs a bounded-variation control in order to maximize an ergodic profit functional depending on a long-time average of the controlled state-process. Unlike the hard/standard approach where each object can only belong to exactly one cluster, in a fuzzy setting, the assignment is soft; that is, each object is assigned to all clusters with certain membership degrees varying in the unit interval. The best known fuzzy clustering algorithm is the fuzzy k-means (FkM), or fuzzy c-means. It is a generalization of the classical k-means method. Starting from the FkM algorithm, and in more than 40 years, several variants have been proposed. The peculiarity of such different proposals depends on the type of data to deal with, and on the cluster shape. The aim is to show fuzzy clustering alternatives to manage different kinds of data, ranging from numerical, categorical or mixed data to more complex data structures, such as interval-valued, fuzzy-valued or functional data, together with some robust methods. Title Zero-temperature stochastic Ising model on quasi-transitive graphs Abstract We examine the question of fixation for zero-temperature stochastic Ising model on some connected quasi-transitive graphs. The initial spin configuration is distributed according to a Bernoulli product measure with parameter $p\in (0,1) $. We prove that the shrink property for the underlying graph is a necessary condition for all sites to flip infinitely often almost surely (in this case the model is said of type I). Our main result shows that if $p=1/2 $ and the graph is connected and invariant under rotations and translations, then a strengthening of the shrink property, called the planar shrink property, implies that the model is of type I. We provide an infinite class of graphs having the planar shrink property. Finally, we prove that for one-dimensional translation invariant graphs, the shrink property is a necessary and sufficient condition for the model to be of type I. La tendenza attuale nel campo dell'apprendimento automatico è di utilizzare reti neurali profonde con un numero enorme di parametri, inizializzati spesso in modo (pseudo-)casuale. Questo approccio, che nella pratica si rivela estremamente efficace, offre anche una prospettiva teorica utile per comprendere alcune delle proprietà che rendono tale tecnica così potente, ma anche di evidenziarne possibili limiti. L'intervento sarà suddiviso in due parti, ciascuna incentrata su un aspetto del tema. Dopo una breve introduzione alle reti neurali artificiali e al loro utilizzo pratico nell'apprendimento automatico, la prima parte si concentrerà sulla struttura delle reti all'inizializzazione, limitandoci per semplicità alle architetture più semplici. Esploreremo in più dettaglio alcuni dei risultati principali riguardanti i limiti di scala ``ampio'' e ``profondo'' per reti neurali inizializzate con pesi casuali, concentrandoci su alcuni risultati recenti che stabiliscono una equivalenza asintotica tra reti neural profonde e opportuni processi gaussiani. Nella seconda parte, ci concentreremo sulla dinamica dell'addestramento delle reti neurali. Università del Piemonte Orientale. - on-line: http://meet.google.com/cto-jsdt-pay *Title*: Bayesian Calibration of Option Pricing Models Dr. Luca Gonzato, University of Vienna, Department of Statistics and Operations Research *Abstract*: Calibration of option pricing models to the implied volatility surface is a complicated, yet fundamental task in the quantitative finance community. By exploiting Sequential Monte Carlo (SMC) methods we turn the standard calibration problem into a Bayesian estimation task. In this way we can construct a sequence of distributions from the prior to the posterior which allows to compute any statistic of the estimated parameters, to overcome the strong dependence on the starting point and to avoid troublesome local minima; all of which are typical plagues of the standard calibration. To highlight the strength of our approach we consider the calibration of the double jump stochastic volatility model of Duffie et. al (2000) both on simulated and real option data. From the results on both single dates and time series of implied volatilities we find that our Bayesian approach largely outperforms the benchmark in terms of run time-accuracy, option pricing errors and statistical fit. Finally, we show how to further speed up computations by leveraging delayed-acceptance MCMC methods and deep learning. This is a joint work with R. Brignone, S. Knaust and E. The availability of large and complex datasets has stimulated the development of tail index regression techniques that can capture complex relationships between a large number of predictors and a dependent variable of interest. However, available methods are either flexible and asymptotically justified but do not scale well with the dimension of the predictor space, or well-suited in high-dimension but lack asymptotic results. This paper presents a novel random forest approach that fills this gap. We establish the asymptotic normality of our tail index regression forest estimator under mild assumptions on the tail behavior of the dependent variable. This class of problems finds natural applications in Economics and Finance, such as in investment problems in oligopolies. In those games, the representative agent employs a bounded-variation control in order to maximize an ergodic profit functional depending on a long-time average of the controlled state-process. However, in many cases, empirical evidence suggested that these models were too rigid to capture the situation where more severe events tend to be more spatially and temporally localized. Recently, in order to cope with this situation, the literature has focused on different types of models that can more flexibly capture the so-called "sub-asymptotic" situation. After briefly reviewing these recent advances, we present a space-time model of threshold exceedances that embeds the spatial dependence in a time series formulation with different forms of limiting dependence with increasing threshold. Inference from the observed data is difficult due to a high-dimensional censoring scheme, and we propose an indirect inference procedure for estimation. The proposal is illustrated using a rainfall dataset. The class of Multivariate Bernoulli distributions with given identical margins Roberto Fontana, Politecnico di Torino, Department of Mathematical Sciences roberto.fontana(a)polito.it The main contributions of the work (joint with P. Semeraro, Politecnico di Torino) are algorithms to sample from multivariate Bernoulli distributions and to determine the distributions and bounds of a wide class of indices and measures of probability mass functions. Probability mass functions of exchangeable Bernoulli distributions are points in a convex polytope, and we provide an analytical expression for the extremal points of this polytope. The more general class of multivariate Bernoulli distributions with identical marginal Bernoulli distributions with parameter p is also a convex polytope. However, finding its extremal points is a more challenging task. Our novel theoretical contribution is to use an algebraic approach to find a set of analytically available generators. We also solve the problem of finding the lower bound in the convex order of multivariate Bernoulli distributions with given margins, but with unspecified dependence structure.
