Dear all, you are all invited to participate to the following seminar on *Wednesday 11th of January 2023 at 16:30* in Aula Seminari 4026 at University of Milano Bicocca (via degli Arcimboldi 8, Milano - building U7, 4th floor): Speaker: *Giulia Di Nunno* (University of Oslo) Titolo: *Sandwiched Volterra volatility models and hedging* Abstract: We present the Sandwiched Volterra Volatility (SVV) model and we discuss some of its characteristic properties. We then move to consider hedging and consider the explicit computation of quadratic hedging strategies. While the theoretical solution is well-known in terms of the non-anticipating derivative for all square integrable claims, the fact that these models are typically non-Markovian provides a concrete difficulty in the direct computation of conditional expectations at the core of the explicit hedging strategy. To overcome this difficulty, we propose a Markovian approximation of the model which stems from an adequate approximation of the kernel in the Volterra noise. We show some numerical simulations performed with different methods. Cordiali saluti, Sara Mazzonetto %%%%%%%% Dear friends and colleagues, It is our great pleasure to announce that the 21st INFORMS Applied Probability Society conference will be held in Nancy, France, on June 28 - 30 2023. The Informs APS conference has been one of the most important international events in Applied Probability for over 4 decades. After having postponed the conference from back in 2021 due to Covid, we are all so excited to come together again as a community. The event will be an outstanding opportunity to hear (and give!) great talks and poster presentations at the cutting edge of research in Applied Probability. And the APS conference is an especially great opportunity for students and junior career scientists to meet many in the community, learn about new and interesting research directions, share their recent and ongoing work, establish new collaborations and friendships. Invited session chairs are currently in the process of inviting speakers, and there will also be many great sessions of contributed talks, as well as an excellent poster fair! Zanco https://sites.google.com/unipi.it/spass -------------------------------------------- *Title: **The primitive equations with transport noise* *Abstract: **The primitive equations are one of the fundamental models for geophysical flows used to describe oceanic and atmospheric dynamics. In this talk I will discuss some recent results on the primitive equations with noise of transport type. In addition to transport noise, we also consider non-isothermal turbulent pressure. The dependence of the turbulent pressure on the temperature is a consequence of a stochastic Boussinesq approximation. For the primitive equations with transport noise and non-isothermal turbulent pressure, we provide a physical derivation and we discuss the global well-posedness for data in the critical spaces $H^1$. The latter result gives a non-trivial extension of the celebrated work by C. Cao and E.S. Titi on the deterministic model. Our approach is based on recent developments of maximal regularity techniques in the context of stochastic parabolic PDEs. If time allows, then I will also discuss further results in presence of rough noise.* *Based on joint works with M. Hieber (TU Darmstadt), A. Hussein (TU Kaiserslautern) and M. Saal (TU Darmstadt).*

Dear all, This is to remind you of the mini-course Boris Hanin (Princeton University) will give at Tor Vergata next week. Here is a schedule and updated program of the course: Neural Networks and Gaussian Processes * Lecture 1. (Tue 10th, 14h00) Introduction to neural networks and open problems. * Lecture 2. (Wed 11th, 14h00) Statement and proof of Gaussian Process (GP) limit. Tuning to criticality and analysis at large depth. * Lecture 3. (Fri 12th, 10h00) Optimization in the GP limit using the Neural Tangent Kernel. More open problems. The course will be self-contained and requires no particular background on the field. All the lectures will be held in Aula Dal Passo, Department of Mathematics - Tor Vergata university, and we do encourage in-person participation.
