Con preghiera di diffusione >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Cari colleghi, da ormai un anno il laboratorio di Finanza Quantitativa del Dipartimento di Matematica del Politecnico di Milano, Qfinlab, è attivo nel campo dell’Educazione Finanziaria. Tutte le nostre attività in tal senso sono confluite nel sito www.imparalafinanza.it<http://www.imparalafinanza.it/>. Certamente importante è stato il lancio del primo MOOC di Educazione Finanziaria in Italia, la cui seconda edizione si avvia ormai alla conclusione, tramite il quale abbiamo raggiunto oltre 2000 persone. Una seconda iniziativa è stata la caccia al tesoro finanziaria (www.cacciaaltesorofinanziaria.it<http://www.cacciaaltesorofinanziaria.it/>), che ha visto protagonisti 45 ragazzi delle superiori, che si sono sfidati su argomenti di finanza, imparando. Vi scriviamo per chiedervi un aiuto nella diffusione della nostra terza iniziativa, il concorso per idee https://www.mate.polimi.it/concorso_edufin/ Il concorso è volto a far emergere idee interessanti e originali in merito a come comunicare nell'ambito dell’educazione finanziaria. È un concorso a livello nazionale ed è rivolto a singoli partecipanti o a gruppi composti al massimo da tre partecipanti, di età non superiore ai 35 anni. Le sezioni del concorso sono due, video e letteratura (testi scritti nelle più diverse forme), e saranno premiati i primi tre lavori di ognuna delle due categorie. A message from Johanna Ziegel and Ilya Molchanov: UNIVERSITY OF BERN (INSTITUTE OF MATHEMATICAL STATISTICS AND ACTUARIAL SCIENCE) PhD POSITION in PROBABILITY THEORY Funding from the SNF (Swiss National Science Foundation) is available for a PhD student (3 years) to work on the project `Poisson approximation and extreme values in stochastic geometry' of Prof. Ilya Molchanov and Dr. Matthias Schulte. The focus of this project is on topics such as the Malliavin-Chen-Stein method, extreme values in stochastic geometry, random simplicial complexes and metric measure spaces. The PhD student will be supervised by Dr. Matthias Schulte. It is anticipated that the prospective PhD student has a background in mathematics with emphasis on probability theory. Avviso di seminario, Università di Trento "Regularization by noise for transport and kinetic equations" Martedì 31 ottobre 2017 *Luogo:* Dipartimento di Matematica, via Sommarive, 14 - Povo (TN) - Aula Seminari "-1" *Ore*: 11.00 - *Relatore: *Ennio Fedrizzi (Applied Mathematical Department, ENSTA ParisTech) *Abstract: *For some differential equations the addition of a carefully chosen, random noise term can produce a regularising effect (e.g. solutions are more regular, or restored uniqueness). I will first mention a few easy examples (ODEs) to introduce some of these regularising mechanisms, then detail two cases where we have regularisation for a PDE: the linear transport equation and a kinetic equation with force term. I will present some classical results for these two equations, related to well-posedness and regularity of solutions, that in the stochastic setting can be obtained under weaker hypothesis. These results are based on a careful analysis of the stochastic characteristics and the regularising properties of some associated parabolic/elliptic PDE. If time allows, I will conclude by introducing a new strategy of proof based on stochastic exponentials and an associated parabolic PDE, which allows to obtain, under even weaker hypothesis, well-posedness for stochastic PDEs in a class of solutions which are only regular in mean. Regards Florent ------------------------------ The Ecole Normale Supérieure (ENS Paris) invites applications for a Junior Research and Teaching Laplace chair in data science at the postdoctoral level, funded by CFM (Capital Fund Management) and the ENS. The chair is named after Pierre-Simon, marquis de Laplace, who between many accomplishments, was one of the early founders of statistical inference and data science. The Laplace chair aims at recruiting outstanding candidates in all areas of data sciences including theoretical statistics, machine learning, optimization, signal processing, computer science, applied mathematics and statistical physics, or working on applications to other sciences such as physics, biology, medicine, social sciences or economics.
