SEMINARIO DI MATEMATICA *Mercoledì 4 marzo 2020* ore 17:00 *Scuola Normale Superiore* Pisa Aula Mancini *Michal Kowalczyk* *(**Center for Mathematical Modelling, Universidad de Santiago, Chile)* Terrà un seminario dal titolo: *“Doubling construction for $O(m)\times O(n)$ invariant solutions to the Allen-Cahn equation”* *Abstract:* In this talk I will discuss the construction of new families of two-ended $O(m)\times O(n)$-invariant solutions to the Allen-Cahn equation $\Delta u+u-u3$=0 in $\R^{N+1}$, with $N\ge 7$, whose zero level sets diverge logarithmically from the Lawson cone at infinity. The construction is based on a careful study of the Jacobi-Toda system on a given $O(m)\times O(n)$-invariant manifold, which is asymptotic to the Lawson cone at infinity. This is a joint work with. SEMINARIO DI GEOMETRIA *Mercoledì 26 febbraio 2020* ore 15:00 *Scuola Normale Superiore* Pisa Aula Dini * Dhyan Aranha* *(**SISSA)* Terrà un seminario dal titolo: “The Intrinsic Normal Cone For Artin Stacks” *Abstract:* In this talk we will report on joint work with Piotr Pstragwoski where we extended the construction of the normal cone of a closed embedding of schemes to any locally of finite type morphism of higher Artin stacks and show that in the Deligne-Mumford case our construction recovers the relative intrinsic normal cone of Behrend and Fantechi. We will explain a characterization of our extension as the unique one satisfying a short list of axioms. As an application of our methods, we associate to any morphism of Artin stacks equipped with a choice of a global perfect obstruction theory a relative virtual fundamental class in the Chow group of Kresch. Seminario di Finanza Quantitativa *Martedì 18 febbraio 2020* ore 11:00 *Scuola Normale Superiore* Pisa Aula Fermi *Marco Lippi* * (**Einaudi Institute, Roma**)* Terrà un seminario dal titolo: *“Identification in Macroeconomic Models: SVAR Techniques, Fundamentalness Problem, Dynamic Factor Models”* *Abstract:* Identification of structural shocks in a VAR model is obtained by a linear transformation of the estimated residuals. This is known as structural VAR, SVAR. Clearly, this practice relies on fundamentalness of the structural shocks, which on the other hand is not usually a consequence of the theory. I will review some of the solutions proposed, with particular attention to Dynamic Factor Models, DFM, and singular stochastic vectors. I will also discuss the issue of measurement errors in macroeconomic variables and their treatment within DFMs. Tutti gli interessati sono invitati a partecipare. Tutti gli interessati sono invitati a partecipare. ------------------------ *Sigurd Assing* (University of Warwick) TITLE: Bayesian Gaussian Process Latent Variable Model ABSTRACT: We introduce a variational inference framework for training the Gaussian process latent variable model and thus performing Bayesian nonlinear dimensionality reduction. The maximization of the variational lower bound provides a Bayesian training procedure that is robust to overfitting and can automatically select the dimensionality of the nonlinear latent space. ------------------------ *Michael Goldman* (Université Paris Diderot) TITLE: A variational approach to regularity in optimal transport and applications to the optimal matching problem. ABSTRACT: In this course I will present the regularity theory for optimal transport maps recently developed together with M. Huesmann and F. Otto. The main point of the course is to show that as long as we are in a linearization regime, that is as long as the local displacement and the local distances of the two marginals to the Lebesgue measure are small, the displacement is quantitatively close to the gradient of the solution of a Poisson equation. We will see applications both to partial regularity and to (a variant of) the optimal matching problem.
